An informational workshop designed for salaried workers in Mexico. Understand every line of your pay stub, from ISR deductions to IMSS contributions, aguinaldo calculations and vacation premium rights.
Many workers receive their pay stub every two weeks without fully understanding what the numbers mean. The deductions, the contributions, the concepts listed in small print — they represent real money from your salary.
This workshop provides clear, informational guidance on how to read and interpret your recibo de nómina. We cover ISR, IMSS, Infonavit, and the calculation of aguinaldo and prima vacacional. All content is educational and general in nature. This workshop does not provide legal or labor advice.
A Mexican pay stub contains legally required fields that many workers have never been shown how to read. This section walks through each area of the document systematically.
The Impuesto Sobre la Renta (ISR) is withheld from salaried workers each pay period by their employer, who acts as a retaining agent. Understanding how it is calculated helps workers verify the amounts on their stub.
The Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) provides health coverage, disability, retirement, and other benefits. Both the worker and employer contribute, but only the worker's share appears as a deduction.
Infonavit contributions appear on your stub as an employer aportación — meaning your employer contributes 5% of your salary to your housing subcuenta. This does not reduce your take-home pay, but it is important to understand.
The aguinaldo is a constitutionally recognized right for all salaried workers in Mexico. The minimum established by law is 15 days of salary, paid before December 20 of each year.
Mexican labor law establishes a minimum number of vacation days that increase with seniority, plus a prima vacacional of at least 25% of the salary earned during the vacation period.
Explore approximate figures to better understand how deductions and benefits relate to salary. Results are illustrative and for general orientation only — not a substitute for professional review.
